Job 10:8–13

⁷³Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

⁷Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

⁷Euen euery one that is called by my Name: for I haue created him for my glory, I haue formed him, yea I haue made him.

³Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?

³ Is it good vnto thee, that thou shouldest oppresse? that thou shouldest despise ^†the worke of thine hands? and shine vpon the counsell of the wicked?

³Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

⁴And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

⁵Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

⁶O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

⁷At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

⁸If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

⁹And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;

¹⁰If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

^3‖Then I went downe to the potters house, and behold, hee wrought a worke on the wheeles.

^4‖†And the vessell that he made of clay, was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it againe another vessell as seemed good to the potter to make it.

⁵Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

^6*O house of Israel, cannot I doe with you as this potter, saith the LORD? Behold, as the clay is in the potters hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

^7* At what instant I shall speake concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdome, to plucke vp and to pull downe, and to destroy it.

^8*If that nation against whom I haue pronounced, turne from their euill, I will repent of the euill that I thought to doe vnto them.

⁶And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

⁷And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

⁷And the LORD said, I will destroy man, whom I haue created, from the face of the earth: ^†both man and beast, and the creeping thing, and the foules of the aire: for it repenteth me that I haue made them.

⁷And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

⁸But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

¹⁹In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

⁷Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

⁹Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

^9*Woe vnto him that striueth with his maker: Let the potsheard striue with the potsheards of the earth: shal the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy worke, he hath no hands?

⁶O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

⁶Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

⁷Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.

²¹Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

¹⁴I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.

⁷O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.

⁴Remember me, O Lord, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;

¹⁵My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

¹⁸Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

⁴⁷Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?

¹⁴I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

¹⁵My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

¹⁶Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

^14†I will praise thee, for I am fearefully and wonderfully made, marueilous are thy works: and that my soule knoweth right well.

^15‖My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret: and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

^16†‖Thine eyes did see my substance yet being vnperfect, and in thy booke all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned: when as yet there was none of them.

⁴Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

⁵Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

⁶And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

⁷So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

⁸And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

⁴Againe he said vnto me, Prophecie vpon these bones, and say vnto them; O yee drie bones, heare the word of the LORD.

⁵Thus saith the LORD God vnto these bones, Behold, I wil cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall liue.

⁶And I wil lay sinewes vpon you, and wil bring vp flesh vpon you, and couer you with skinne, and put breath in you, and ye shall liue, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

⁷So I prophecied as I was commanded: and as I prophecied, there was a noise, and beholde a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

⁸And when I beheld, loe, the sinews and the flesh came vp vpon them, and the skin couered them aboue; but there was no breath in them.

¹⁶From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

^16*From whom the whole body fitly ioyned together, and compacted by that which euery ioynt supplyeth, according to the effectuall working in the measure of euery part, maketh increase of the body, vnto the edifying of it selfe in loue.

¹⁷He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

¹⁸His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

^17‖Hee moueth his taile like a Cedar: the sinewes of his stones are wrapt together.

²For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

³If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

²For in this we grone earnestly, desiring to be clothed vpō with our house, which is from heauen.

³If so be that being clothed we shal not be found naked.

²⁸For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

²⁸For in him we liue, and mooue, and haue our being, as certaine also of your owne Poets haue said, For we are also his offspring.

⁴The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

²⁵Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

¹⁹Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

²⁵Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

¹³But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

³⁹See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

³⁹See now, that I, euen I am he, and there is no god with mee; ^*I kill, and I make aliue: I wound, and I heale: neither is there any that can deliuer out of my hand.

⁶¶ Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.

⁷For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?

⁶¶ Because to euery purpose there is time, and iudgement; therefore the misery of man is great vpon him.

^7‖For hee knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him, when it shall be?

¹¹According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

¹⁵Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.

⁷I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

⁹Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

¹⁰Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

¹¹Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

⁹Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is none else, I am God, and there is none like me,

^10*Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsell shall stand, and I wil doe all my pleasure:

^11†Calling a rauenous bird from the East, the man that executeth my counsell from a farre countrey; yea I haue spoken it, I will also bring it to passe, I haue purposed it, I will also doe it.

⁹On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

⁹On the left hand where hee doeth worke, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himselfe on the right hand, that I cannot see him.

³⁷¶ Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

³⁷¶ ^*Who is hee that sayth, and it commeth to passe, when the LORD commandeth it not?

³³O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
