Job 6:8–9

⁸¹My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.

⁸¹¶ My soule fainteth for thy saluation: but I hope in thy word.

¹⁴I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.

¹⁵And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?

¹⁶They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.

⁴¶ But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

⁴¶ But he himselfe went a dayes iourney into the wildernesse, and came and sate downe vnder a Iuniper tree: and hee requested ^†for himselfe that hee might die, and sayd, It is enough, now O LORD, take away my life: for I am not better then my fathers.

³Therefore now, O Lord, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.

¹⁰Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

^10‖Behold, I haue refined thee, but not with siluer; I haue chosen thee in the fornace of affliction.

^11*For mine owne sake, euen for mine owne sake will I doe it; for how should my Name bee polluted? And I will not giue my glory vnto another.

⁸And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

¹³O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!

¹⁵And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
