Luke 2:47–49

²⁸And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

³²And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

⁹⁹I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

¹⁵And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

⁴⁶The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

²²And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

²²And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

⁴⁹And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

⁴⁶¶ While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

²³And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

²²And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

³⁸For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

²⁹And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

¹BEHOLD, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

⁸I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

³⁴Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

⁴⁸And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

¹⁷¶ But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

¹²¶ And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

¹⁶And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.

¹⁷And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

⁴I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
