Matthew 1:3–4

²⁴¶ And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

²⁵When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.

²⁶And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.

²⁷¶ And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb.

²⁴¶ And it came to passe about three moneths after, that it was tolde Iudah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot, and also behold, she is with child by whoredom: and Iudah said, Bring her foorth, and let her be burnt.

²⁵When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man whose these are, am I with child: and shee said, Discerne, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staffe.

²⁶And Iudah acknowledged them, and said, She hath bin more righteous then I: because that I gaue her not to Shelah my sonne: and he knew her againe no more.

²⁷¶ And it came to passe in the time of her trauaile, that beholde, twinnes were in her wombe.

²⁹And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.

³⁰And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.

²⁹And it came to passe as he drewe backe his hand, that behold, his brother came out: and she said, ^‖how hast thou broken foorth? this breach bee vpon thee: Therefore his name was called ^†*Pharez.

³⁰And afterward came out his brother that had the skarlet threed vpon his hand, and his name was called Zarah.

¹²¶ And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zerah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.

¹²¶ And the sonnes of ^*Iudah: Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zerah: But Er & Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sonnes of Pharez, were Hezron, and Hamul.

¹THE sons of Judah; Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

¹¶ The sonnes of Iudah: ^*Pharez, Hezron, and ^‖Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

¹⁸¶ Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

¹⁹And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

²⁰And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

²¹And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

²²And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

¹⁸¶ Now these are the generations of Pharez: ^*Pharez begate Hezron,

¹⁹And Hezron begate Ram, and Ram begate Amminadab,

²⁰And Amminadab begate Nahshon, and Nahshon begate ^‖Salmon,

²¹And Salmon begate Boaz, and Boaz begate Obed,

²²And Obed begat Iesse, and Iesse begate Dauid.

³³Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda,

³³Which was the sonne of Aminadab, which was the sonne of Aram, which was the sonne of Esrom, which was the sonne of Phares, which was the sonne of Iuda,

²⁰And the sons of Judah after their families were; of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites: of Pharez, the family of the Pharzites: of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites.

²¹And the sons of Pharez were; of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites: of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites.

²⁰And the sonnes of Iudah after their families were: Of Shelah the familie of the Shelanites: Of Pharez the familie of the Pharzites: Of Zerah the familie of the Zarhites.

²¹And the sonnes of Pharez were: Of Hesron the familie of the Hesronites: Of Hamul the familie of the Hamulites.

¹THESE are the sons of Israel; Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun,

²Dan, Joseph, and Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

³¶ The sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah: which three were born unto him of the daughter of Shua the Canaanitess. And Er, the firstborn of Judah, was evil in the sight of the Lord; and he slew him.

⁴And Tamar his daughter in law bare him Pharez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

⁵The sons of Pharez; Hezron, and Hamul.

⁶And the sons of Zerah; Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara: five of them in all.

⁷And the sons of Carmi; Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed in the thing accursed.

⁸And the sons of Ethan; Azariah.

⁹The sons also of Hezron, that were born unto him; Jerahmeel, and Ram, and Chelubai.

¹⁰And Ram begat Amminadab; and Amminadab begat Nahshon, prince of the children of Judah;

¹¹And Nahshon begat Salma, and Salma begat Boaz,

¹²And Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse,

¹³¶ And Jesse begat his firstborn Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shimma the third,

¹⁴Nethaneel the fourth, Raddai the fifth,

¹⁵Ozem the sixth, David the seventh:

¹¶ These are the sonnes of ^‖Israel: ^*Reuben, Simeon, Leui, and Iudah, Issachar, and Zebulun,

⁶And the sonnes of Zerah: ^‖Zimri, ^*and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and ^‖Dara. Fiue of them in all.

⁷And the sonnes of Carmi: ^‖Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed in the thing ^*accursed.

⁸And the sonnes of Ethan: Azariah.

⁹The sonnes also of Hezron, that were borne vnto him: Ierahmeel, and ^*Ram, and ^‖Chelubai.

¹⁰And Ram ^*begate Aminadab, and Aminadab begat Nahshon, prince of the children of Iudah.

¹¹And Nahshon begate Salma, and Salma begate Boaz.

¹²And Boaz begate Obed, and Obed begate Iesse.

¹³¶ ^*And Iesse begate his first-borne Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and ^‖Shimma the third,

¹⁴Nathanael the fourth, Raddai the fifth,

¹⁵Ozem the sixth, Dauid the seuenth:

⁶And of the sons of Zerah; Jeuel, and their brethren, six hundred and ninety.

⁶And of the sonnes of Zerah: Ieuel, and their brethren, sixe hundred and ninetie.

⁶And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar.

⁶And Iudah tooke a wife for Er his first borne, whose name was Tamar.

¹¹Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father’s house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father’s house.

¹¹Then said Iudah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remaine a widow at thy fathers house, til Shelah my sonne be growen: (for he said, Lest peraduenture he die also as his brethren did) and Tamar went and dwelt in her fathers house.

¹⁰And Ram begat Amminadab; and Amminadab begat Nahshon, prince of the children of Judah;

¹¹And Nahshon begat Salma, and Salma begat Boaz,

¹²And Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse,

¹⁰And Ram ^*begate Aminadab, and Aminadab begat Nahshon, prince of the children of Iudah.

¹¹And Nahshon begate Salma, and Salma begate Boaz.

¹²And Boaz begate Obed, and Obed begate Iesse.

⁷Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

⁷Of Iudah: Nahshon, the sonne of Amminadab.

¹²¶ And he that offered his offering the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah:

¹²¶ And he that offered his offring the first day, was Nahshon the sonne of Amminadab, of the tribe of Iudah.

³And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.

³And on the East side toward the rising of the Sunne, shall they of the standerd of the campe of Iudah pitch, throughout their armies: and Nahshon the sonne of Amminadab, shall bee captaine of the children of Iudah.

³²Which was the son of Jesse, which was the son of Obed, which was the son of Booz, which was the son of Salmon, which was the son of Naasson,

³²Which was the sonne of Iesse, which was the sonne of Obed, which was the sonne of Booz, which was the sonne of Salmon, which was the sonne of Nasson,

¹⁴¶ In the first place went the standard of the camp of the children of Judah according to their armies: and over his host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

¹⁴¶ ^*In the first place went the standerd of the campe of the children of Iudah, according to their armies, and ouer his hoste was ^*Nahshon the sonne of Amminadab.

¹⁷And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: this was the offering of Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

¹⁷And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, fiue rammes, fiue hee goats, fiue lambes of the first yeere: this was the offering of Nahshon the sonne of Amminadab.

¹⁹And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

²⁰And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

¹⁹And Hezron begate Ram, and Ram begate Amminadab,

²⁰And Amminadab begate Nahshon, and Nahshon begate ^‖Salmon,
