Psalms 102:24–25

¹²¶ Art thou not from everlasting, O Lord my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O Lord, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.

¹⁰I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.

¹¹I said, I shall not see the Lord, even the Lord, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

¹²Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd’s tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

¹³I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

¹⁴Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O Lord, I am oppressed; undertake for me.

¹⁵What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.

¹⁶O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.

¹⁷Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

¹⁸For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.

¹⁹The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

²⁰The Lord was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.

²¹For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover.

²²Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the Lord?

¹⁰I saide in the cutting off of my dayes; I shall goe to the gates of the graue: I am depriued of the residue of my yeeres.

¹¹I said, I shal not see the LORD, euen the LORD in the land of the liuing: I shal behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

^17‖†Behold, for peace I had great bitternesse, but thou hast in loue to my soule deliuered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sinnes behinde thy backe.

¹⁸For the graue cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: they that goe downe into the pit cannot hope for thy trueth.

¹⁹The liuing, the liuing, hee shall praise thee, as I doe this day: the father to the children shall make knowen thy trueth.

¹IN the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

¹²And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

¹¹They shall perish, but thou remainest: and they all shal waxe old as doth a garment.

¹⁷Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

³For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

¹THUS the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

⁴Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

⁵Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

⁶Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

⁷When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

^4*Where wast thou when I layd the foundations of the earth? declare, ^†if thou hast vnderstanding.

⁵Who hath layd the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line vpon it?

⁶Wherepuon are the ^†foundations thereof ^†fastened? or who layd the corner stone thereof?

⁷When the morning starres sang together, and all the sonnes of God shouted for ioy.

²³I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

²⁴When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

²⁵Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

²⁶While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

²⁷When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

²⁸When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

²⁹When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

³⁰Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

³¹Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

³²Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

³³Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

³⁴Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

³⁵For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.

³⁶But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

²³I was set vp from euerlasting, from the beginning, or euer the earth was.

²⁴When there were no depthes, I was brought forth: when there were no fountaines abounding with water.

²⁵Before the mountaines were setled: before the hilles, was I brought foorth:

^27‖When hee prepared the heauens, I was there: when he set a compasse vpon the face of the depth.

²⁸When he established the cloudes aboue: when he strengthned the fountaines of the deepe.

^29*When he gaue to the sea his decree, that the waters should not passe his commandement: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

³⁰Then I was by him, as one brought vp with him: and I was daily his delight, reioycing alwayes before him:

³¹Reioycing in the habitable part of his earth, and my delights were with the sonnes of men.

^32*Nowe therefore hearken vnto me, O yee children: for blessed are they that keepe my wayes.

³³Heare instruction, and bee wise, and refuse it not.

³⁴Blessed is the man that heareth me: watching daily at my gates, waiting at the postes of my doores.

^35†For whoso findeth mee, findeth life, and shall obtaine fauour of the LORD.

³⁶But hee that sinneth against me, wrongeth his owne soule; all they that hate me, loue death.

⁵For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.
