Psalms 109:16–17

¹⁸The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

¹³For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

¹³For he shall haue iudgement without mercie, that hath shewed no mercy, & mercie ^‖reioyceth against iudgement.

³³Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

³⁴And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

³⁵So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

³³Shouldest not thou also haue had compassion on thy fellow-seruant, euen as I had pitie on thee?

³⁴And his lord was wroth, and deliuered him to the tormentors, till hee should pay all that was due vnto him.

¹⁴The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

¹¹And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath bidden him.

¹²It may be that the Lord will look on mine affliction, and that the Lord will requite me good for his cursing this day.

¹¹And Dauid said to Abishai, and to all his seruants, Beholde, my sonne which came foorth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Beniamite doe it? let him alone, and let him curse: for the LORD hath bidden him.

¹²It may bee that the LORD will looke on mine ^‖affliction, and that the LORD will requite good for his cursing this day.

¹MOREOVER Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

²And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:

¹¶ Moreouer Ahithophel said vnto Absalom, Let mee nowe chuse out twelue thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after Dauid this night.

²And I wil come vpon him while hee is wearie and weake handed, and wil make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee, and I will smite the king onely.

²¹¶ And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

²How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?

²¹Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

³⁵And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

³⁶And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

³⁴And saith vnto them, My soule is exceeding sorowful vnto death: tarie ye here, and watch.

³⁵And he went forward a litle, and fell on the ground, and prayed, that if it were possible, the houre might passe from him.

³⁶And he said, Abba, father, all things are possible vnto thee, take away this cup from me: Neuerthelesse, not that I will, but what thou wilt.

³⁵And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

³⁶And sitting down they watched him there;

³⁷And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

³⁸Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

³⁹¶ And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

⁴⁰And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

⁴¹Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

⁴²He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

⁴³He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

⁴⁴The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

⁴⁵Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

⁴⁶And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

³⁵And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Prophet, ^*They parted my garments among them, and vpon my vesture did they cast lots.

³⁶And sitting downe, they watched him there:

³⁷And set vp ouer his head, his accusation written, THIS IS IESVS THE KING OF THE IEWES.

³⁸Then were there two theeues crucified with him: one on the right hand, and another on the left.

³⁹¶ And they that passed by, reuiled him, wagging their heads,

⁴⁰And saying, Thou that destroyest the Temple, & buildest it in three dayes, saue thy selfe: If thou be the Sonne of God, come downe from the Crosse.

⁴¹Likewise also the chiefe Priests mocking him, with the Scribes and Elders, said,

⁴²He saued others, himselfe he cannot saue: If he be the King of Israel, let him now come downe from the Crosse, and we will beleeue him.

^43*He trusted in God, let him deliuer him now if hee will haue him: for he said, I am the Sonne of God.

⁴⁴The thieues also which were crucified with him, cast y ^e same in his teeth.

⁴⁵Now from the sixth houre there was darkenesse ouer all the land vnto the ninth houre.

⁴⁶And about the ninth houre, Iesus cried with a loud voyce, saying, Eli, Eli, Lamasabachthani, that is to say, ^*My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken mee?

⁷Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

¹⁴Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.

²The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

²⁰Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

²²Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.

²³Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.

²⁴Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

²⁵Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.

²⁶For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.

²⁷Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.

²⁸Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

²⁹But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.

²⁸Let them bee blotted out of the booke of the liuing, and not be written with the righteous.

²⁹But I am poore, and sorowfull: let thy saluation (O God) set me vp on high.

²For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

²For with what iudgment ye iudge, yee shall be iudged: ^*and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you againe.

¹⁴The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

⁶Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.

⁴Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.

⁵God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.

¹²For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

¹³Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
