Psalms 119:37–39

¹⁶For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

¹⁵He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;

¹I MADE a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

¹¶ I made a couenant with mine eyes; why then should I thinke vpon a mayd?

³⁹And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:

²⁸But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

⁵Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

⁴⁰Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

²⁰Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

²¶ And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

²¶ And it came to passe in an euening tide, that Dauid arose from off his bed, and walked vpon the roofe of the kings house: and from the roofe he saw a woman washing her selfe; and the woman was very beautifull to looke vpon.

²¹When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

²⁵My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.

³⁹And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

⁴⁰And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

⁴¹Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

^39*†And I will giue them one heart, and one way, that they may feare mee for euer, for the good of them, and of their children after them.

^40†And I will make an euerlasting couenant with them, that I will not turne away from them, to doe them good, but I will put my feare in their hearts, that they shall not depart from mee.

^41†Yea, I will reioyce oner them to doe them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly, with my whole heart, and with my whole soule.

¹¹The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

²⁰For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

¹⁷But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;

²⁵And now, O Lord God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

²⁶And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

²⁷For thou, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

²⁸And now, O Lord God, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

²⁹Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord God, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

²⁵And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken, concerning thy seruant, and concerning his house, establish it for euer, and doe as thou hast said.

²⁹Therefore now ^†let it please thee to blesse the house of thy seruant, that it may continue for euer before thee: for thou, O LORD God, hast spoken it, and with thy blessing let the house of thy seruant be blessed for euer.

¹¹For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

^11†For as the heauen is high aboue the earth: so great is his mercy toward them that feare him.

¹³Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

¹³Like as a father pitieth his children: so the LORD pitieth them that feare him.

⁴⁹Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

⁴⁹¶ Remember the word vnto thy seruant: vpon which thou hast caused me to hope.

¹⁹He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

¹⁹Hee will fulfill the desire of them that feare him: he also will heare their cry, and will saue them.

⁷Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

⁷Moreouer, hee must haue a good report of them which are without, lest he fall into reproch, and the snare of the deuill.

²²Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.

⁸Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

⁸Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.

³He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.

²For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

²For true and righteous are his iudgements, for hee hath iudged the great whore which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath auenged the blood of his seruants at her hand.

²But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

²But wee are sure that the iudgement of God is according to trueth, against them which commit such things.

¹⁴I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

¹⁴Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

⁸And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

⁸Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.

⁸Yea in the way of thy Iudgements, O LORD, haue we waited for thee; the desire of our soule is to thy Name, and to the remembrance of thee.

¹²³Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.

¹³¹I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.

³¹I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame.

⁴³And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.

⁴³And take not the word of trueth vtterly out of my mouth: for I haue hoped in thy iudgements.

⁷⁵I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

^75†I knowe, O LORD, that thy iudgements are right: and that thou in faithfulnesse hast afflicted me.

⁹The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
