Psalms 119:42–43

²⁵Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

⁶³Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

¹¹My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

⁷And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:

⁸The Lord hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the Lord hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.

⁷And thus said Shimei when hee cursed, Come out, come out thou ^†bloody man, and thou man of Belial:

⁸The LORD hath returned vpon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast raigned, and the LORD hath deliuered the kingdome into the hand of Absalom thy sonne: and ^†behold, thou art taken to thy mischiefe, because thou art a bloody man.

⁴⁹Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

⁷⁴They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.

⁷⁴They that feare thee will bee glad when they see mee: because I haue hoped in thy word.

⁸¹My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.

⁸¹¶ My soule fainteth for thy saluation: but I hope in thy word.

¹⁰In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word.

¹¹In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

¹¹In God haue I put my trust: I will not bee afraid what man can doe vnto me.

³But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.

⁴Howbeit the Lord God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:

⁵And of all my sons, (for the Lord hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

⁶And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.

³But God said vnto me, Thou shalt not builde an house for my Name, because thou hast been a man of warre, and hast shed ^†blood.

⁴Howbeit, the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father, to be king ouer Israel for euer: for he hath chosen ^*Iudah to be the ruler; & of the house of Iudah, the house of my father; and among the sonnes of my father, he liked me to make me king ouer all Israel:

^5*And of all my sonnes (for the LORD hath giuen me many sonnes) hee hath chosen Solomon my sonne, to sit vpon the throne of the kingdome of the LORD ouer Israel.

⁶And he said vnto me, ^*Solomon thy sonne, hee shall build my house and my courts: for I haue chosen him to be my sonne, and I will be his father.

¹⁸And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the king’s household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Jordan;

¹⁹And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

²⁰For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.

¹⁸And there went ouer a ferry-boat to cary ouer the kings houshold, and to doe ^†what he thought good: and Shimei the sonne of Gera fell downe before the king as he was come ouer Iordane;

¹⁹And said vnto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquitie vnto me, neither do thou remember that which thy seruant did peruersly the day that my lord the king ^*went out of Ierusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

²⁰For thy seruant doeth know that I haue sinned: therefore behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Ioseph, to goe downe to meete my lord the king.

¹²¶ And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

¹³He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

¹⁴I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

¹⁵But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

¹⁶And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

¹²¶ And ^*when thy dayes be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleepe with thy fathers, I will set vp thy seede after thee, which shall proceede out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdome.

^13*Hee shall build an house for my Name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdome for euer.

^14*I will be his father, and he shall be my sonne: ^*if hee commit iniquitie, I will chasten him with the rodde of men, and with the stripes of the children of men.

¹⁵But my mercie shall not depart away from him, as I tooke it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

¹⁶And thine house, and thy kingdome shall be stablished for euer before thee: thy throne shall be stablished for euer.

⁴⁰And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

⁴¹Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

⁴²He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

⁴³He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

⁴⁰And saying, Thou that destroyest the Temple, & buildest it in three dayes, saue thy selfe: If thou be the Sonne of God, come downe from the Crosse.

⁴¹Likewise also the chiefe Priests mocking him, with the Scribes and Elders, said,

⁴²He saued others, himselfe he cannot saue: If he be the King of Israel, let him now come downe from the Crosse, and we will beleeue him.

^43*He trusted in God, let him deliuer him now if hee will haue him: for he said, I am the Sonne of God.

²Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

¹⁰As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?

^10‖ As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproch mee: while they say dayly vnto me, Where is thy God?

⁴In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

¹⁰For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,

¹¹Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.

¹⁹Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.

²⁰I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:

²¹With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.

²²The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

²³And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.

²⁴But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.

²⁵I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.

²⁶He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.

²⁷Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

²⁸My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.

²⁹His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

³⁰If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;

³¹If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;

³²Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

³³Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.

³⁴My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

³⁵Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.

³⁶His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.

³⁷It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

¹⁹Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I haue laid helpe vpon one that is mightie: I haue exalted one chosen out of the people.

^20*I haue found Dauid my seruant: with my holy oile haue I anointed him.

^33††Neuerthelesse, my louing kindnesse will I not vtterly take from him: nor suffer my faithfulnesse to faile.

³⁴My couenant will I not breake: nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lippes.

^35†Once haue I sworne by my holinesse; that I will not lye vnto Dauid.

^36*His seede shall endure for euer; and his throne as the sunne before me.

³⁷It shalbe established for euer as the Moone: and as a faithfull witnesse in heauen. Selah.

²⁵I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.

⁴For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.

¹⁷O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

¹⁸Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

¹⁸Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

¹⁸Of his owne will begate hee vs, with the word of Trueth, that wee should bee a kinde of first fruites of his creatures.

⁵²I remembered thy judgments of old, O Lord; and have comforted myself.

¹⁶But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

²¹As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.

²¹As for me, this is my couenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is vpon thee, and my words which I haue put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of the seede, nor out of the mouth of thy seedes seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth, and for euer.

¹²⁰My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.

¹²⁰My flesh trembleth for feare of thee: and I am afraide of thy Iudgements.

¹JUDGE me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

¹¶ ^‖†Iudge mee, O God, and plead my cause against an vngodly nation; O deliuer me from the deceitfull and vniust man.

¹⁴Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

¹⁵O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

^14†Deliuer mee from blood-guiltinesse, O God, thou God of my saluation: and my tongue shall sing alowd of thy righteousnesse.

⁶Arise, O Lord, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.

⁷So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.

⁸The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

⁹Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

⁶Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift vp thy selfe, because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the iudgement that thou hast commanded.

⁷So shall the congregation of the people compasse thee about: for their sakes therefore returne thou on high.

^8*The LORD shal iudge the people: iudge me, O LORD, according to my righteousnesse, and according to mine integritie that is in me.

^9*Oh let the wickednes of the wicked come to an end, but establish the iust: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reines.

¹⁶The Lord is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.
