Isaiah 40:4–5

⁵Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

¹⁶And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

¹²For the day of the LORD of hostes shall bee vpon euery one that is proud and loftie, and vpon euery one that is lifted vp, and he shalbe brought low;

¹³And vpon all the Cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted vp; and vpon all the okes of Bashan,

¹⁴And vpon all the high mountaines, and vpon all the hilles that are lifted vp,

¹⁵And vpon euery high tower, and vpon euery fenced wall,

⁵²He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

¹⁰The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

⁶For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹ARISE, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

¹²¶ Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the Lord hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?

²As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

¹²And this shall be a signe vnto you; yee shall find the babe wrapped in swadling clothes lying in a manger.

¹³And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the heauenly hoste praising God, and saying,

¹⁴Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good wil towards men.
