Proverbs 14:10–12

⁷And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

¹⁴The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

¹⁸I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

¹³A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

¹MY soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

¹⁷He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

⁸Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

¹⁰And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.

²⁷And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and the Lord hath hid it from me, and hath not told me.

¹¹Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

²⁷Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

³³And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;

³⁴And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

¹⁴The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

¹⁴So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the Lord was strong upon me.

²Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!

³For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.

⁴For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.

¹⁸He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.

²¹¶ And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

²³Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

³³¶ The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

⁷The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

²⁶And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

²⁷And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

²⁸For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?

¹²The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

⁴I will bring it forth, saith the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

¹⁴His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.

¹⁵It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

¹¹And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

¹²And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

¹⁵He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

²⁸He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

²⁰There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

³⁴For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.

²¹Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.

⁶If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

³Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

²⁶All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.

²⁷The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.

²⁸The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.

¹³This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.

¹⁴If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.

¹⁵Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.

¹⁶Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay;

¹⁷He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.

¹⁸He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth that the keeper maketh.

¹⁹The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.

²⁰Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night.

²¹The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.

²²For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.

²³Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.

²His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

³Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

²⁵There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

¹³¶ Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

¹⁴Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

¹⁵The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

³For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

²⁴¶ Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

²¹What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

¹²There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

²²But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

⁶Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
