Psalms 112:4–5

¹⁷And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.

¹²Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

¹PRAISE ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

⁸¶ Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.

⁹I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

⁹Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee.

¹⁰Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

⁷¶ If there be among you a poore man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates, in thy lande which the LORD thy God giueth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poore brother:

⁹Beware that there bee not a ^†thought in thy ^†wicked heart, saying, The seuenth yeere, the yeere of release is at hand, and thine eye be euill against thy poore brother, and thou giuest him nought, and hee crie vnto the LORD against thee, and it be sinne vnto thee.

¹⁰Thou shalt surely giue him, and thine heart shall not bee grieued when thou giuest vnto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall blesse thee in all thy workes, and in all that thou puttest thine hand vnto.

³¹And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

³²Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

³³Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

³⁴So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

³⁰I went by the field of the slouthfull, and by the vineyard of the man voyd of vnderstanding:

³¹And loe, it was all growen ouer with thornes, and nettles had couered the face thereof, and the stone wall therof was broken downe:

^32†Then I saw, and considered it well, I looked vpon it, and receiued instruction.

^33* Yet a little sleepe, a little slumber, a little folding of the handes to sleepe:

^34†So shall thy pouertie come, as one that traueileth, and thy want, as an armed man.

²⁵I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

²⁶He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

²⁵I haue bene yong, and now am old; yet haue I not seene the righteous forsaken, nor his seede begging bread.

^26† He is euer mercifull, and lendeth: and his seede is blessed.

⁵⁰¶ And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counseller; and he was a good man, and a just:

³⁵But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

³⁵But loue yee your enemies, and doe good, and lend, hoping for nothing againe: and your reward shall bee great, and ye shalbe the children of the Highest: for hee is kinde vnto the vnthankfull, and to the euill.

¹¹Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

⁷For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

²A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

¹⁶If I haue withhelde the poore from their desire, or haue caused the eyes of the widow to faile:

¹⁷Or haue eaten my morsell my selfe alone, and the fatherlesse hath not eaten thereof:

¹⁸(For from my youth hee was brought vp with me as with a father, and I haue guided ^†her from my mothers wombe.)

¹⁹If I haue seene any perish for want of cloathing, or any poore without couering:

²⁰If his loynes haue not blessed me, and if hee were not warmed with the fleece of my sheepe:

⁹He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

²⁷Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
