Psalms 119:139–141

¹⁷And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

⁹For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

¹⁰And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

¹⁰And hee sayd, I haue beene very iealous for the LORD God of hostes: for the children of Israel haue forsaken thy Couenant, throwen downe thine Altars, and slaine thy Prophets with the sword: and ^*I, euen I onely am left, and they seeke my life, to take it away.

²⁷For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

²⁵And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

²⁶Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

²⁷For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

²³And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging, to whom he expounded and testified the kingdome of God, perswading them concerning Iesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the Prophets, from morning till euening.

²⁶Saying, ^*Goe vnto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall heare, and shall not vnderstand, and seeing ye shall see, and not perceiue.

²⁷For the heart of this people is waxed grosse, and their eares are dull of hearing, and their eyes haue they closed, lest they should with their eyes, and heare with their eares, and vnderstand with their heart, and should bee conuerted, and I should heale them.

³But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;

⁴How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

⁵Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

³But he said vnto them, Haue yee not read ^*what Dauid did when hee was an hungred, and they that were with him,

⁴How he entred into the house of God, and did eate the shew bread, which was not lawfull for him to eate, neither for them which were with him, ^*but, only for the Priests?

⁵Or haue yee not read in the ^*law, how that on the Sabbath dayes the Priests in the Temple profane the Sabbath, and are blamelesse?

⁴For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

⁵But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

⁶And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

⁴For God commaunded, saying, ^*Honour thy father and mother: And ^*hee that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

⁵But yee say, Whosoeuer shall say to his father or his mother, ^* It is a gift by whatsoeuer thou mightest bee profited by me,

⁶And honour not his father or his mother, hee shall be free. Thus haue yee made the Commaundement of God of none effect by your tradition.

¹³And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

¹⁶And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

⁴²Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

²⁹Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

²⁹Iesus answered, and said vnto them, Yee doe erre, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

¹³But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

⁴Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.

⁵Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

⁸The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

²¹For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

⁶The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

¹²⁸Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

¹⁶If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

⁵Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

¹⁶Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith.

¹MY son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

¹⁰⁹My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.

¹⁷But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

³He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

¹BETTER is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

¹¶ ^*Better is the poore that walketh in his integrity, then he that is peruerse in his lippes, and is a foole.

¹⁷⁶I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.
