Psalms 119:71–73

¹⁰For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

¹¹Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

¹⁰For they verily for a fewe dayes chastened vs after their owne pleasure, but hee for our profit, that we might bee partakers of his holinesse.

¹⁰Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

¹¹For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

¹⁶How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

^16*How much better is it to get wisedome, then gold? and to get vnderstanding, rather to be chosen then siluer?

⁴⁴¶ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

⁴⁵¶ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

⁴⁶Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

⁴⁴¶ Againe, the kingdome of heauen is like vnto treasure hid in a field: the which when a man hath found, hee hideth, and for ioy thereof goeth and selleth all that hee hath, and buyeth that field.

⁴⁶Who when hee had found one pearle of great price, he went and solde all that he had, and bought it.

¹⁴For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

¹⁵She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

¹⁴I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

¹⁶Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

^14†I will praise thee, for I am fearefully and wonderfully made, marueilous are thy works: and that my soule knoweth right well.

^15‖My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret: and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

^16†‖Thine eyes did see my substance yet being vnperfect, and in thy booke all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned: when as yet there was none of them.

¹⁵Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

¹⁵Did not hee that made mee in the wombe, make him? and ^‖did not one fashion vs in the wombe?

⁸The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

⁸The LORD wil perfit that which concerneth me: thy mercie, O LORD, endureth for euer: forsake not the works of thine owne hands.

¹⁰The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

^10*‖†The feare of the LORD is the beginning of wisedome, a good vnderstanding haue all they that doe his commandements: his praise endureth for euer.

⁷Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

⁸But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

¹²⁵I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.

²⁰And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

²⁰And we know that the Sonne of God is come, and hath giuen vs an vnderstanding that wee may know him that is true: and wee are in him that is true, euen in his Sonne Iesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternall life.

³Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

³Know ye that the LORD, hee is God, it is he that hath made vs, and ^‖not we our selues: wee are his people, and the sheepe of his pasture.

³⁴Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

³⁴Giue me vnderstanding, and I shall keepe thy Law: yea I shall obserue it with my whole heart.

¹²Huram said moreover, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the Lord, and an house for his kingdom.

¹⁶⁹Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord: give me understanding according to thy word.

¹²Only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the Lord thy God.

⁸Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.

⁹Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?

¹⁰Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?

¹¹Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.

⁸Thine hands ^†haue made me and fashioned me together round about yet thou doest destroy me.

¹¹Thou hast cloathed me with skin and flesh, and hast ^†fenced me with bones and sinewes.

¹⁴⁴The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.

¹⁴⁴The righteousnesse of thy Testimonies is euerlasting: giue me vnderstanding, and I shall liue.
