Romans 4:3–4

⁶And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

⁶And he ^*beleeued in the LORD; and hee counted it to him for righteousnesse.

²³And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

⁶Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

⁷Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

⁸And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

⁶Euen as Abraham beleeued God, and it was ^‖accounted to him for righteousnesse.

⁷Knowe yee therefore, that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

⁸And the Scripture foreseeing that God would iustifie the heathen through faith, preached before the Gospel vnto Abraham, saying, ^*In thee shall all nations be blessed.

⁹Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

⁹Commeth this blessednes then vpon the circumcision onely, or vpon the vncircumcision also? for wee say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousnesse.

²²And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

²³Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

²⁴But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

²⁵Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

²⁴But for vs also, to whome it shall bee imputed, if wee beleeue on him that raised vp Iesus our Lord from the dead,

²⁵Who was deliuered for our offences, and was raised againe for our iustification.

⁵But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

⁵But to him that worketh not, but beleeueth on him that iustifieth the vngodly; his faith is counted for righteousnesse.

³¹And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

³¹And that was counted vnto him for righteousnesse: vnto all generations for euermore.

¹¹And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

¹¹And hee receiued the signe of circumcision, a seale of the righteousnesse of the faith, which hee had yet being vncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that beleeue, though they be not circumcised; that righteousnesse might be imputed vnto them also:

²God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,

¹¹For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

¹¹For the Scripture saith, ^*Whosoeuer beleeueth on him, shall not bee ashamed.

¹⁷For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

¹⁷For the Scripture saith vnto Pharaoh, ^*Euen for this same purpose haue I raised thee vp, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my Name might bee declared throughout all the earth.

²⁰Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

²¹For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

²¹For the prophecie came not ^‖in olde time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moued by the holy Ghost.

¹⁰And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

^10*And haue ye not read this Scripture? The stone which the builders reiected, is become the head of the corner:

²⁰To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

⁵Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

⁵Doe ye thinke that the Scripture saith in vaine, the spirit that dwelleth in vs lusteth ^‖to enuy?

⁶And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

⁶And if by grace, then is it no more of workes: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it bee of workes, then is it no more grace, otherwise worke is no more worke.

³²Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

³⁵Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

¹FOR the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

²And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

³And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

⁴And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

⁵Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

⁶And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

⁷They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

⁸So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

⁹And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

¹⁰But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

¹¹And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

¹²Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

¹³But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

¹⁴Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

¹⁵Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

¹⁶So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

¹¶ For the kingdome of heauen is like vnto a man that is an housholder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

³And he went out about the third houre, and saw others standing idle in the market place,

⁴And said vnto them, Go ye also into the vineyard, & whatsoeuer is right, I wil giue you. And they went their way.

⁵Againe he went out about the sixth and ninth houre, and did likewise.

⁶And about the eleuenth houre, he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith vnto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

⁷They say vnto him, Because no man hath hired vs. He saith vnto them, Go ye also into the vineyard: and whatsoeuer is right, that shall ye receiue.

⁸So when euen was come, the lord of the vineyard saith vnto his Steward, Call the labourers, and giue them their hire, beginning from the last, vnto the first.

⁹And when they came that were hired about the eleuenth houre, they receiued euery man a penie.

¹⁰But when the first came, they supposed that they should haue receiued more, and they likewise receiued euery man a penie.

¹¹And when they had receiued it, they murmured against the good man of the house,

¹²Saying, These last ^‖haue wrought but one houre, and thou hast made them equall vnto vs, which haue borne the burden, and heat of the day.

¹³But he answered one of them and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penie?

¹⁴Take that thine is, and goe thy way, I will giue vnto this last, euen as vnto thee.

¹⁵Is it not lawfull for mee to doe what I wil with mine owne? Is thine eye euill, because I am good?

^16*So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many bee called, but fewe chosen.
