John 16:5–6

³⁶¶ Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.

³³Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

³³Then said Iesus vnto them, Yet a litle while am I with you, and then I goe vnto him that sent me.

²⁸I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

²⁸I came foorth from the Father, and am come into the world: againe, I leaue the world, and goe to the Father.

⁷But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

⁸Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

⁹(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

¹⁰He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

¹¹And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

⁷But vnto euery one of vs is giuen grace, according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

⁸Wherefore he saith: ^*When he ascended vp on high, he led ^‖captiuitie captiue, and gaue gifts vnto men.

⁹(Now that he ascended, what is it but that hee also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

¹⁰He that descended, is the same also that ascended vp far aboue all heauens, that he might ^‖fill all things.)

^11*And he gaue some, Apostles: and some, Prophets: and some, Euangelists: and some, Pastors, and teachers:

³Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

⁴And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

⁵Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

⁶Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

⁴And whither I goe yee know, and the way ye know.

⁵Thomas saith vnto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest: and how can we know the way?

⁶Iesus saith vnto him, I am the Way, the Trueth, and the Life: no man commeth vnto the Father but by mee.

¹⁰Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

¹⁰Of righteousnesse, because I goe to my Father, and ye see me no more.

⁴I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

⁴I haue glorified thee on the earth: I haue finished the worke which thou gauest me to doe.

²Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

³Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

²⁸Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

²⁸Ye haue heard how I saide vnto you, I goe away, and come againe vnto you. If ye loued mee, yee would reioyce, because I said, I go vnto the Father: for my Father is greater then I.

¹⁶A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

¹⁶A litle while, and ye shall not see me: and againe a litle while, & ye shall see me: because I goe to the Father.

⁶²What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

^62* What and if yee shall see the sonne of man ascend vp where hee was before?

¹³And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

¹³And now come I to thee, and these things I speake in the world, that they might haue my ioy fulfilled in themselues.

²⁰Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

²¹A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

²²And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

²⁰Uerily, verily I say vnto you, that ye shall weepe and lament, but the world shall reioyce: And ye shall be sorrowfull, but your sorrow shall be turned into ioy.

²¹A woman, when she is in trauaile, hath sorrow, because her houre is come: but assoone as she is deliuered of the child, she remembreth no more the anguish, for ioy that a man is borne into the world.

²²And ye now therefore haue sorrow: but I will see you againe, and your heart shall reioyce, and your ioy no man taketh from you.

¹¹¶ But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

¹²And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

¹³And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

¹⁴And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

¹⁵Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

¹¹¶ But Mary stood without at the sepulchre, weeping: & as shee wept, she stouped downe, and looked into the Sepulchre,

¹²And seeth two Angels in white, sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feete, where the body of Iesus had layen:

¹³And they say vnto her, Woman, why weepest thou? Shee saith vnto them, Because they haue taken away my Lord, and I know not where they haue laied him.

¹⁴And when she had thus said, she turned herselfe backe, and saw Iesus standing, and knew not that it was Iesus.

¹⁵Iesus saith vnto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She supposing him to be the gardiner, saith vnto him, Sir, if thou haue borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laied him, and I will take him away.

¹⁷And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?

¹⁷And he said vnto them, What maner of communications are these that yee haue one to another as yee walke, and are sad?

¹LET not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

¹¶ Let not your heart be troubled: yee beleeue in God, beleeue also in me.

²⁷Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

²⁸Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

²⁷Peace I leaue with you, my peace I giue vnto you, not as the world giueth, giue I vnto you: let not your heart bee troubled, neither let it bee afraid.

²⁸Ye haue heard how I saide vnto you, I goe away, and come againe vnto you. If ye loued mee, yee would reioyce, because I said, I go vnto the Father: for my Father is greater then I.
