Lamentations 3:40–41

⁵Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

²³Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

²⁴And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

¹²¶ Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

¹³And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

¹²¶ Therefore also now, saith the LORD, ^*turne yee euen to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.

¹³And rent your heart and not your garments; and turne vnto the LORD your God: for he is ^*gracious and mercifull, slow to anger, and of great kindnesse, and repenteth him of the euill.

⁷Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

⁴Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

⁵⁹I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

⁶Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

⁷¶ Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

⁸Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord.

⁹Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

⁵Nowe therefore thus saith the LORD of hostes; ^†Consider your wayes.

⁶Yee haue ^*sowen much and bring in litle: ye eate, but ye haue not inough: yee drinke, but yee are not filled with drinke: yee cloth you, but there is none warme: and hee that earneth wages, earneth wages to put it into a bag ^†with holes.

¹COME, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

¹O ISRAEL, return unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

²Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

³Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

¹¶ O Israel, returne vnto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquitie.

^2‖*Take with you words, and turne to the LORD, say vnto him, Take away all iniquitie, and receiue vs graciously: so will wee render the calues of our lips.

³Asshur shall not saue vs, we will not ride vpon horses, neither will wee say any more to the work of our hands, Yee are our gods: for in thee the fatherlesse findeth mercie.

⁶So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.

⁴Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord.

³Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus saith the LORD of hostes; ^*Turne ye vnto me, saith the LORD of hostes, and I will turne vnto you, saith the LORD of hostes.

^4*Be ye not as your fathers, vnto whom the former Prophets haue cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hostes, Turne ye now from your euill wayes, and from your euil doings: but they did not heare, nor hearken vnto me, saith the LORD.

²⁰But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judæa, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

¹²And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

¹³For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

¹²And said vnto them, Yee are the chiefe of the fathers of the Leuites: sanctifie your selues both yee and your brethren, that you may bring vp the Arke of the LORD God of Israel, vnto the place that I haue prepared for it.

¹³For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach vpon vs, for that we sought him not after the due order.

¹UNTO thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

¹¶ Vnto thee, O LORD, doe I lift vp my soule.

²Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.

⁶I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

⁷Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

⁸Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

⁶I stretch forth my hands vnto thee: my soule thirsteth after thee, as a thirstie land, Selah.

^7‖Heare me speedily, O LORD, my spirit faileth, hide not thy face from mee: lest I be like vnto them that goe downe into the pit.

⁸Cause mee to heare thy louing kindnesse in the morning, for in thee doe I trust, cause mee to knowe the way wherein I should walke: for I lift vp my soule vnto thee.

⁴Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

⁴Reioyce the soule of thy seruant: for vnto thee (O LORD) doe I lift vp my soule.

⁸So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

²Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

⁴Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
