Luke 18:14–15

¹¹For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

^11*For whosoeuer exalteth himselfe, shalbe abased: and hee that humbleth himselfe, shalbe exalted.

¹⁵And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

¹⁵And he said vnto them, Ye are they which iustifie your selues before men, but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed amongst men, is abomination in the sight of God.

¹⁰Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

¹⁰Humble your selues in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you vp.

¹²And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

^12*And whosoeuer shall exalt himselfe, shall be abased: and he that shall humble himselfe, shall be exalted.

²³A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

^23*A mans pride shall bring him lowe: but honour shall vpholde the humble in spirit.

⁶But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

⁵²He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

⁶Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

¹⁵For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

⁵Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

⁶Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

³⁴Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

¹¹Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.

¹¹The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

¹²For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

¹³And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,

¹⁴And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,

¹⁵And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,

¹⁶And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.

¹⁷And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

¹¹The ^*loftie lookes of man shalbe humbled, and the hautines of men shalbe bowed downe: and the LORD alone shalbe exalted in that day.

¹²For the day of the LORD of hostes shall bee vpon euery one that is proud and loftie, and vpon euery one that is lifted vp, and he shalbe brought low;

¹³And vpon all the Cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted vp; and vpon all the okes of Bashan,

¹⁴And vpon all the high mountaines, and vpon all the hilles that are lifted vp,

¹⁵And vpon euery high tower, and vpon euery fenced wall,

^16†And vpon all the ships of Tarshish, and vpon all pleasant pictures.

¹⁷And the loftinesse of man shall be bowed downe, and the hautinesse of men shalbe made low: and the LORD alone shalbe exalted in that day.

²⁹When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

²⁹When men are cast downe, then thou shalt say, There is lifting vp: and he shall saue the ^†humble person.

³³The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

^33*The feare of the LORD is the instruction of wisedome; and before honour is humilitie.

¹⁸Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

¹⁹Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

¹²Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

⁵But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

¹⁸And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

³⁷Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

¹⁶Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

¹⁶Knowing that a man is not iustified by the works of the Law, but by the faith of Iesus Christ, euen we haue beleeued in Iesus Christ, that we might be iustified by the faith of Christ, and not by the workes of the Law: for by the workes of the Law shall no flesh be iustified.

²⁵In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

¹¹He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

²¹Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

²²Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

²³And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

²⁴Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

²⁵Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

²¹Was not Abraham our father iustified by works, when hee had offered Isaac his sonne vpon the altar?

^22‖Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

²⁰If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.

²⁴But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

²⁵And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

²⁴But that ye may know that the Sonne of man hath power vpon earth to forgiue sinnes (he said vnto the sicke of the palsie,) I say vnto thee, Arise, and take vp thy couch, and go into thine house.

²⁵And immediatly he rose vp before them, and tooke vp that whereon hee lay, and departed to his owne house, glorifying God.

²⁰Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

²⁰Therefore by the deedes of the Law, there shall no flesh be iustified in his sight: for by the Law is the knowledge of sinne.

¹THEREFORE being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

¹¶ Therefore being iustified by faith, wee haue peace with God, through our Lord Iesus Christ.

³³Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.

⁷¶ Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.

⁴Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

⁹Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

¹⁰Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

¹¹Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

¹²Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

¹³Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

⁹Hast thou an arme like God? or canst thou thunder with a voyce like him?

^10*Decke thy selfe now with Maiestie, and excellencie, and aray thy selfe with glory, and beautie.

¹¹Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold euery one that is proud, and abase him.

¹²Looke on euery one that is proud, and bring him low: and tread downe the wicked in their place.

¹³Hide them in the dust together, and binde their faces in secret.

²⁹But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

⁴⁷Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

⁴⁸And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

⁴⁹And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?

⁵⁰And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

⁴⁷Wherefore, I say vnto thee, her sinnes, which are many, are forgiuen, for she loued much: but to whom litle is forgiuen, the same loueth litle.

⁴⁸And he said vnto her, Thy sinnes are forgiuen.

⁴⁹And they that sate at meat with him, began to say within themselues, Who is this that forgiueth sinnes also?

⁵⁰And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saued thee, goe in peace.

²And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

^2*And enter not into iudgement with thy seruant: for in thy sight shall no man liuing be iustified.

¹³¶ And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

¹⁴But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

¹⁵Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

¹⁶And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

¹³¶ ^*And they brought yong children to him, that he should touch them, and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

¹⁴But when Iesus saw it, hee was much displeased, and said vnto them, Suffer the little children to come vnto mee, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdome of God.

¹⁵Uerily I say vnto you, Whosoeuer shall not receiue the kingdome of God as a little childe, he shall not enter therein.

¹⁶And hee tooke them vp in his armes, put his handes vpon them, and blessed them.

¹³¶ Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

¹⁴But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁵And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

²⁴¶ And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the Lord in Shiloh: and the child was young.

²⁴¶ And when shee had weaned him, shee tooke him vp with her, with three bullocks, and one Ephah of floure, and a bottle of wine, and brought him vnto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the childe was young.

⁴⁹¶ And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

⁵⁰And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

⁴⁹¶ ^*And Iohn answered, and said, Master, we saw one casting out deuils in thy Name, and we forbade him, because he followeth not with vs.

⁵⁰And Iesus said vnto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against vs, is for vs.

⁵⁴And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

⁵⁴And when his disciples, Iames and Iohn sawe this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that wee command fire to come downe from heauen, and consume them, euen as ^*Elias did?
