Psalms 95:9–10

²²Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

⁹Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

²⁴If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

²⁰¶ Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

²¹Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

²²But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

²⁰¶ ^*Then began he to vpbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not.

²²But I say vnto you, It shall bee more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of iudgement, then for you.

¹⁷But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

⁹When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

¹⁰Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

¹⁰Wherefore I was grieued with that generation, and sayd, They doe alway erre in their hearts, and they haue not knowen my wayes.

²²How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

²³Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

²⁴¶ Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

²⁵But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

²⁶I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

²⁷When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

²⁸Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

²⁹For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:

²²How long, ye simple ones, will ye loue simplicitie? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fooles hate knowledge?

²³Turne you at my reproofe: behold, I will powre out my spirit vnto you, I will make knowen my wordes vnto you.

²⁹For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the feare of the LORD.

¹⁸And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.

^18*And about the time of fourtie yeeres ^†suffered he their maners in the wildernesse.

¹⁷¶ O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

¹⁷¶ O LORD, why hast thou made vs to erre from thy wayes? and hardened our heart from thy feare? Returne for thy seruants sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

³⁶He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

¹⁴And the space in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the Lord sware unto them.

¹⁵For indeed the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.

¹⁶¶ So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

¹⁴And the space in which we came from Kadesh Barnea, vntill we were come ouer the brooke Zered, was thirtie and eight yeeres; vntill all the generation of the men of warre were wasted out from among the hoste, as the LORD sware vnto them.

¹⁵For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the hoste, vntill they were consumed.

¹⁶¶ So it came to passe, when all the men of warre were consumed and dead from among the people,

⁶Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the Lord.

¹³And the Lord’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the Lord, was consumed.

⁷¶ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

⁷¶ ^*The feare of the LORD is ^‖the beginning of knowledge: but fooles despise wisedome and instruction.

³And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the Lord had given him in commandment unto them;

³And it came to passe in the fourtieth yeere, in the eleuenth moneth, on the first day of the moneth, that Moses spake vnto the children of Israel, according vnto all that the LORD had giuen him in commandement vnto them:

³⁰And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

⁶And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

³³And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.

³⁴After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

³³And your children shall ^‖wander in the wildernes forty yeres, and beare your whoredomes, vntill your carkases be wasted in the wildernesse.

³⁴After the number of the dayes in which ye searched the land, euen ^*fortie dayes (each day for a yeere) shall yee beare your iniquities, euen forty yeeres, and yee shall know my ^‖breach of promise.

²⁸And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

²⁸And euen as they did not like to ^‖retaine God in their knowledge, God gaue them ouer to ^‖a reprobate minde, to doe those things which are not conuenient:

¹⁹And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

²⁰For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

²¹But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

¹⁹And this is the condemnation, ^*that light is come into the world, and men loued darknesse rather then light, because their deedes were euill.

²⁰For euery one that doeth euill, hateth the light, neither commeth to the light, lest his deeds should be ^‖reproued.

²¹But hee that doeth trueth, commeth to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
